Kate Tokos

Kate Tokos Raising her 11-year-old grandson was a labor of love and a daunting challenge for Kate Tokos of Binghamton, New York. “It was a honeymoon situation when he first got here, and I gave him a lot of green lights with his behavior,” recalls Kate.

The honeymoon ended when her grandson started hitting her and destroying property when he didn’t get his way. “I’ve had broken blood vessels in my arms. I’ve had things thrown in my home. I was running to counselors and psychiatrists with him. One night we had to go to a crisis center, and they wanted to send him to a facility for children with severe behavior disorders four–and–a–half hours from our home. And I said, ‘No. There’s got to be another way.’”

A friend had given Kate a newspaper ad for The Total Transformation. After the crisis center visit, just before Christmas, she called to get information. “It’s the best Christmas gift I could have ever given myself,” she says. “

“When I started listening to The Total TransformationŽ, I said, ‘Oh my goodness. This is everything I’m going through.’ I realized I was buying into his abusive behavior and that he didn’t have the skills he needed to solve his problems. When I use the techniques in the program, it stops him cold. Because now he understands what abuse means.”

Through The Total Transformation Program, Kate is learning how to teach her grandson to be accountable for his behavior. “I love making him responsible for his actions. One of the problems I always had was with homework. Now, instead of arguing, I let him know it’s his responsibility and, by golly, it gets done. The Total TransformationŽ is what I have needed and what Brian needs. Because what’s helping me is helping him tremendously.”

Kate began home schooling her grandson this year. She often recalls the day she almost had to give him up and is thankful she was able to get the help she needed to keep him at home and help him improve his behavior. “I know there’s a light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s not a train. It’s The Total Transformation Program.”
