Director of Finance

As Director of Finance, Mark White oversees all the financial operations of Legacy Publishing Company.

Mark worked in the direct response industry for ten years before joining Legacy's team a year ago. "The direct response industry is fascinating," says Mark, "because it's constantly changing and evolving. You never have to worry about it being cookie cutter. And with Legacy's commitment to online sales, it's gotten even more fast-paced."

Mark also enjoys the problem-solving aspect of his job. "In this business, the to-do list is often thrown away ten minutes into the day as we respond quickly to issues that come up. There are always rocks to turn over in order to find solutions; just when you think you've ‘seen it all' something will come out of left field that will test you. Sometimes a person will have an idea in the morning and we're doing it by the afternoon. It's always interesting."

In spite of the agility Legacy demonstrates as a company, "I would have to say that one of our assets is the fact that we are probably one of the more deliberate companies in the industry. We take the time to ask the hard questions and make sure we're moving forward in a way that's true to our mission." Mark also views the quality of Legacy's products as one of the company's greatest strengths. "The programs we create and sell really work; they transform and improve families' lives. And that's not just my opinion—we hear this from our customers every single day."

This is also a big part of the reason Mark gives for why he enjoys his job so much. "At Legacy, you're having a blast doing your job with other professional, smart people—and on top of that, you're actually helping families out all over the world. At the end of the day, it's very nice to sit back, smile, and know you had fun while helping people at the same time," says Mark. "You really can't get much better than that."

In his spare time, Mark likes to do activities with his two young children, ages 7 and 5. He's also studied ninjutsu for the past 10 years and is a second degree black belt who teaches ninjutsu classes a couple nights a week. Mark enjoys teaching because, "It's very rewarding over time to see confidence come into a person's life." Earlier this year, he also ran his first marathon, and he's set his sights on competing in more races. "It's absolutely amazing what you find out about yourself three hours into a rainy marathon. But I thrive on the activity and the excitement. I'm a goal-oriented person—that's probably the reason why I like working at Legacy so much."
